Template
Templates make it easy to implement a structured DTAP (Development, Testing, Acceptance, Production) environment in Datastorms. This approach ensures you have dedicated projects for each stage (e.g., Development, Testing, etc.), providing a clean, separated workflow.
Key Requirements
- A Develop project is the minimum requirement to create the template initially.
- Once established, any number of other projects can be consistently created from that one template.
Creating a Template
- Go to the Develop project
- Go to Project Settings
- Click on the Template
- Click the CREATE Template button
- Fill in the template name: copy the name of the dev project word for word. A template based on the developer project has now been created.
Adding other users as template owner
- Go to the Templates tab in the project list.
- Click on the template where administrators are to be added.
- Go to the Information tab and go to Owners.
- Click the plus symbol and select the user that is to be added as owner.
Template usage
Only template owners are allowed to update a template. Enabling "Others can create or connect a project with this template" means Project admins can create a new project based on this template. However, these project admins are not able to update the template itself.
Modifying project on the basis of a template
- Click on the project that is to be modified using the template.
- Go to Project settings, then to Template
- Under Connect to template, click the desired template that the project is to be connected to.
- Click on the Connect and pull button if the settings are correct, and the project will be modified based on the template
Archiving/deleting a template
- Navigate to the Templates tab in the project list
- Press ... next to the name of the template.
- Press Archive template
- Navigate to the Archived tab.
- Click ..., then click Delete template. The template has now been deleted.
