Security
The Security tab allows you to configure authentication requirements, password policies, and access logs for your organization's Datastorms environment.
General Security Settings
These settings govern user authentication and session limits. You can toggle or configure the following options:
- Require Two factor authentication
- Require device verification on sign in
- Password ageing: Requires users to set a new password after a specified interval of days.
- Password history count: The number of previous passwords Datastorms remembers per user, preventing them from reusing recent passwords.
- Maximum failed login attempts
- Allow users to stay signed in
- Inactive user session expires after (in minutes)
Password Quality Settings
Define the required strength of user passwords by adjusting the Complexity slider or manually configuring these parameters:
- Minimum length
- Minimum numeric characters
- Minimum symbolic characters (e.g., !@_$#)
- Allow character repetition
- Minimum uppercase characters
- Minimum lowercase characters
It is good practice to find a middle ground between requiring a highly secure password and ensuring users can easily remember and type it. Encouraging the use of a password manager is a practical solution.
Security Logs
Specify a Start Date and End Date to filter your organization's security logs.
You can then export these records using two buttons:
- Download login data
- Download access data
Clicking either button will generate and download a .zip file containing the relevant .csv and .xml files.
